Adam’s Story
As a teenager, Adam spent a lot of time on his grandfather’s property in Ojai turning over rocks looking for lizards and tarantulas. His uncle Robert, an artist, read up on viticulture and decided to plant Barbera on the property, however birds and gophers made the growing difficult, and Adam lovingly made the only harvestable […]
Our Work At Fe Ciega
It’s wild to think it has already been three years since we acquired Fe Ciega. Right now we are selling the last of our main cuvees of Fe Ciega Pinot Noir from 2021, which was the first vintage under Adam’s stewardship (though we’ve made the wine since 2003). Soon the 2022s will be bottled, and […]
Our New Pierce’s Disease Resistant Vineyard
In 2017 we seized an exciting opportunity to resurrect our long-gone estate vineyard. This wasn’t just planting any vineyard, though; this was an opportunity to change the future of viticulture in California.
UPDATE: The hybrid varietals planted at our vineyard in Ojai, as reported by Wine Enthusiast

Recipes for Summer: Moroccan Sardine Crostinis & Citrus-Hoisin Salmon Glaze
This post covers two of the wines—our 2018 Sauvignon Blanc and our 2018 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir—and is unintentionally seafood themed (prompted by the warm weather, probably).
Getting into the 2018 Chardonnays
Alright, folks—we have officially released our 2018 Chardonnays, and praised be the 2018 vintage! We’re just beginning to talk about 2018, and you can expect more talk going forward with releases to come. This vintage was an outstanding one for us in the Central Coast. After a string of drought years with warm winters and […]
Ojai Vineyard in the New York Times
Last month The Ojai Vineyard had the honor of mention in The New York Times.
Quest to Perfect Sauvignon Blanc
For those in the know, thinking of The Ojai Vineyard and Adam Tolmach brings to mind a legacy of crafting fine Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. But for about as much time Adam has been on a quest to perfect Sauvignon Blanc.
