A big thank you to our hardworking tasting room team who kept the wine flowing all day!#harvest2026 #drinklocal #ojai
Are those grapes frozen?! Yes! 🧊🍇 After we pick ou Are those grapes frozen?! Yes! 🧊🍇After we pick our Riesling, most of the fruit comes straight back to the winery to be processed for our dry Riesling. But some years we set aside a small portion and take to a commercial strawberry freezer, where the grapes are frozen for about a week.Once frozen through, we bring the grapes back to the winery and press them while they’re still frozen. As they slowly thaw in the press, the more concentrated, sugar-rich juice melts and runs out first, while more of the water remains behind as ice. The result is a small amount of intensely concentrated, flavorful juice to make our dessert wine. The process is similar to the idea behind ice wine, with one important difference: traditional ice wine relies on grapes freezing naturally on the vine. Here in Southern California, we don’t get the sustained freezing temperatures needed for that, so we bring the frost to the grapes instead! ❄️#harvest2026 #dessert #riesling
And just like that, all the fruit is in for the 20 And just like that, all the fruit is in for the 2026 harvest! 🍇That doesn’t mean the work is over just yet, there are still plenty of tanks to pump over, dig-outs, barrel-downs, and fermentations to manage. But getting the last grapes through the cellar doors always feels like a milestone worth celebrating. We’re incredibly grateful for the crews who harvested in the wee hours of the morning and the truck drivers who got the fruit to us so promptly. Harvest takes a village, and we couldn’t do what we love without all the hardworking people behind the scenes.Cheers to the 2026 harvest and to seeing what these wines become. 🥂#harvest2026 #ojai #drinklocal
