2002 SYRAH WHITE HAWK
Santa
Barbara County
From extraordinarily poor,
hillside soils of pure sand, we again were only able to get the
vines to yield about one ton to the acre. This gave us a super
concentrated and utterly engaging wine, with exotic aromas that
are a little hard to describe. Like last years' effort, it seems
to have a brackish, saline quality that is fascinating and ever
changing. But unlike the very straight, rigid and correct 2001,
this one is quite showy and easy to enjoy today.
