2010 ROSÉ
Ojai Valley, California

We are ecstatic about the character of the 2010 rosé, it is so delicious. The key was to pick the grapes as if we were making a white wine. The base of the wine is a section of Roll Ranch syrah which produces a wonderfully zippy and minerally wine when picked at 22 brix. This year we blended in 5% grenache and 5% riesling which gave the wine an exciting punch. Winemaking wise, the rosé is barrel fermented in older French oak and it remains on the lees until bottling in mid February. This 2010 rosé is fresh, vibrant and particularly friendly.

Press Reviews:

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

"The 2010 Rose is mostly Syrah, with some Grenache and Riesling, all whole cluster pressed. It shows gorgeous vibrancy in its fruit and a focused, crystalline finish. This is very much in the house style, not to mention an absolutely delicious bottle of wine. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013."  ( 88 Points )

Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar

“(90% syrah, with 5% each of grenache and riesling):  Bright pink.  Aromas of tangerine and red berries, with complicating notes of dried rose and herbs.  Plump and juicy, with good breadth to its red fruit flavors.  Finishes smooth and sappy, with lingering spicy intensity.  This could handle richer, highly seasoned foods.” ( 89 Points )
