2009 Pinot Noir
Santa Barbara County

The 2008 version was an overnight success and it sold out quickly. This 2009 is every bit as good, and perhaps even better. What struck me first when pouring a glass of this pinot was its gorgeous aroma. It reminded me of just picked blackberries. The flavors are rich and savory, but without a bit of syrupy heaviness. The wines' color is a beautiful dark ruby, so it is sure to be a Valentine's Day hit!

A vineyard blend from some of Santa Barbara County's best addresses, it is composed of 49% Solomon Hills, 29% Bien Nacido, 18% Presidio and 4% Kick On Ranch. The grapes were carefully fermented in small batches, pressed off to French oak casks, and left untouched for 15 months. The wine was then bottled without filtration. This minimal handling through the whole winemaking process enabled us to capture its wonderful essence.

Press Reviews:

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“The 2009 Pinot Noir shows lovely mid-palate juiciness in its sweet red cherries, licorice and crushed flowers. This is a pretty, if somewhat fleeting, frail Pinot that is best enjoyed while the fruit is vibrant. The Pinot Noir is mostly young vines from Bien Nacido, with some fruit from Solomon Hills, Presidio and Fe Ciega, basically the barrels that don’t make it into the vineyard-designate bottlings.”  ( 88 Points )

Burghound

"A somber dark berry fruit nose displays lovely breadth while complementing the opulent and pure middle weight flavors that possess a seductive mouth feel and fine volume, all wrapped in a dusty, mouth coating and balanced finish." ( 88 Points )
